BP Ford reli tim je najavio da će 2007 evoluciju Ford Focus-a, predstaviti na reliju u Finskoj, koji obeležava početak drugog dela sezone.

Novi automobil je revidiran i poseduje veliki broj unapređenja, koja će biti relativno neupadljiva neupućenim posmatračima. Nova evolucija ima olakšani motor, menjač i šasiju čime se težina Focusa WRC spušta ispod minimalno dozvoljene, čime se otvara prostor da se težina distribuira tamo gde to vozačima pogoduje. Ukupna ušteda na težini iznosi 20kg, koliko će sada iznositi balast, koji će biti tako pozicioniran da poboljša ponašanje i upravljivost automobila.

Motor sada ima daleko bolju karakteristiku obrtnog momenta u režimu niskih obrtaja zahvaljujući lakšem zamajcu i novim komponentama motora, što bi trebalo da omogući bolje ubrzavanje automobila pri izlasku iz sporih krivina.

Najvidljivija komponenta, koja krasi novu evoluciju, je novi zadnji spojler, koji omogućava daleko manji otpor i viši prednji branik sa drugačijim usisnicima za vazduh. Šasija je redizajnirana pa tako sada pruža još bolju sigurnost za suvozača.

Šef razvojnog tima, Christian Loriaux, je izjavio da su ogibljenje i menjač ostali nepromenjeni, zbog nedostatka vremena da se nove komponente pravilno i potpuno iztestiraju, te će unapređenja ovih komponenti biti predstavljena u toku nastavka sezone.
